Assessor Services
Launched by the government in 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes replaces EcoHomes as the national standard to be used in the design and construction of new homes in England.
The code is a set of sustainable design principles covering performance in 9 key areas: Energy and CO2 emissions, Water, Materials, Surface Water Run-off, Pollution, Health and Wellbeing, Management and Ecology.
The code uses a rating system of one to six stars and involves a Design Stage Report and Post Construction Report which is submitted to STROMA to provide a final code certificate.
Formal assessment of dwellings can only be carried out by suitable qualified, licensed and registered Code Assessors.
Developers wanting to lead the field in sustainable development will want to have their developments assessed under the code to achieve as high a code rating as possible.
There are two stages to code assessment. The Design Stage assessment is carried out during the design of the individual house or development. At this stage we work closely with the designer. specifier and builder to advise on the most appropriate design process to gain the required code rating. A report is then issued to STROMA for an Interim Certificate.
The Post Construction Stage requires us to make a number of site visits during construction and completion of the Post Constructive Review Report. This is submitted to STROMA who then issue the Final Code Certificate.
